ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

2023 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 – December 1, 2023. The Department of Arts and Culture encourages eligible students from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as disabled students, to apply. Eligible students may participate in the program once.

Note:

  • Students who have already earned a BA, BS, or a higher degree are not eligible for the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program.
  • Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to participate a second time.
  • Students who are invited to participate in the program will be asked to provide verification of eligibility via college transcripts, driver’s license, and other documents to show enrollment status and/or LA County residence.

FAQs:

Are the Internships Paid?

YES. All students will be paid $6,760 ($16.90/hour) for their 400-hour long internships. Please note: students are selected and paid directly by their host organizations, not by the Department of Arts and Culture.

Can I participate in this program more than once?

No, students are only eligible to participate in the program once, even if they still meet all other eligibility requirements.

I know the program has a set schedule and runs from June-March, but I’m planning a vacation in August. Can I still participate?

Due to the nature of the program, students must clearly communicate any prior commitments to their organization while they are in the interview process. Interns and organizations must come to agreements about all schedule changes and conflicts before the intern begins their work.

What is the Eligibility?

Students must either live in or attend college in Los Angeles County. Please review the student eligibility guidelines in full.
