Rogelio Resendiz

Bold, loud and proud, Rogelio D. Resendiz is a countertenor from Mexico City based in sunny Los Angeles. Returning from his long musical hiatus in The Emerald City, Seattle WA, he finds himself ecstatic to be back in The City of Angels. Resendiz, is an innovative artist and educator, striving to challenge traditional forms of classical music/opera by defying gender and ethnic norms, through deep methodical and metaphoric inclusive forms of presentation. 

An arts education advocate for LGBTQ+ and minority youth, Resendiz keeps himself actively involved with choral directing, composition, performance and vocal pedagogy. Some of his notable work involves, performing with artists such as; Jennifer Holiday, Ruben Studdard, Peabo Bryson, Taylor Dane, Melissa Peterman and Shahkar Bineshpajooh. Choral works through Disneyland’s candlelight processional choir, Angeles Chorale at Peacock theatre in DTLA. Opera through The Wild Beast Theatre and Pasadena’s Angel Vocal Art and performing with The Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall. 

Resendiz holds a Masters degree in Vocal Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and completed his Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance in Seattle WA, at Cornish College of the Arts.
