Julie West taught middle school instrumental music in LAUSD for over 30 years. Her last 25 years she ran a large band, orchestra and jazz band program at Palms Middle School. She received her B.A. at UCLA and M.A. at CSUN. She was a training teacher to over 40 student teachers from local universities. Julie has conducted the LAUSD Elementary Honor Orchestra three times and the Beverly Hills Unified Schools Middle School Honor Orchestra. Julie stays involved in music as past-president of the Los Angeles Secondary Music Teachers Association, occasional section coaching at middle and high schools and playing cello in the Santa Monica College Orchestra.
