Moving Music Education Forward!
2017 was an exciting year for Education Through Music-Los Angeles and for the schools we serve!
Scroll below to see some noteworthy moments and milestones.
Starting with 800 students in 2006, Education Through Music-LA served over 12,000 children in 2017 with quality music education.
We spread awareness and found new supporters at special events year-round, including our Annual Benefit Gala, Yelp Helps Raise the Roof, our Keep the Music Playing Concert, BMI’s 8th Annual Golf Tournament, our 7th Music Unites the World Festival, and many more.
We were honored to partner with champions – including celebrities, artists, high school and college students, volunteers, educators, parents, business leaders and professionals – who visited our classrooms, led campaigns, and continued to advocate for music in schools.
5th Grader Isaiah shared with us how music education helps him. “School can be hard, kids can be mean…but [music] helps me concentrate. It makes me happy.”
Music teachers and educators grew in their professional development with over 100 hours of mentoring and training.
The year culminated in our Annual Gala, which raised key support for our mission! We were honored to award Grammy-Winning Violinist Joshua Bell and Music Educator Vincent Womack with Shining Star Awards.
Thank you for your continuing support of music education in disadvantaged schools!
THANK YOU!
With Love, From All of Us at Education Through Music-Los Angeles
