Office volunteering is open to all ages, and has included seniors as well as those looking for substantive work experience in a growing music education nonprofit organization. The exact duration and duties will be determined based on the applicant’s skills and the organization’s current need. If interested, please email volunteer@etmla.org with your background and interests.
Throughout the year, ETM-LA hosts intensive music teacher training for our staff as part of our ongoing efforts to provide top-notch music instruction in schools. To that end, we enlist accomplished music educators and artists who have a proven track record of success in the music classroom to lend their pedagogical expertise. If you are interested in supporting our efforts in professional development, please contact Program Director Deidre Racoma at dracoma@etmla.org and include a recent resume.
ETM-LA presents numerous formal and informal events throughout the school year. These include school- and community-based concerts and festivals at partner school sites and local venues, school visits by musicians and artists, and various fundraising events. Event volunteers may assist with such duties as stage production, event set-up, managing guest arrivals and seating, working with children on musical activities, event take-down, and other similar responsibilities. If interested, please contact us at volunteer@etmla.org.
ETM-LA seeks support in strategizing and strengthening our communications and PR efforts. If you have a background in the areas of communications, PR, graphic design, and/or journalism and would like to provide your expertise, please contact info@etmla.org.
Our organization is committed to furthering our mission in order to increasingly serve more children each year with in-school music education. A key to our sustainable growth is the dynamic planning and implementation of our strategic plan. Our strategic planning committee serves to seek, research, and make recommendations for ETM-LA’s strategies for long-term sustainability. If interested in learning more about involvement with ETM-LA’s strategic planning, please contact Executive Director Victoria Lanier at vlanier@etmla.org.
Perhaps the greatest advantage of being a Teaching Assistant with ETM-LA is the opportunity to observe and work with a seasoned Music Teacher. Teaching Assistants see first-hand what it’s like to work with children in a classroom setting. The ideas and routines used by the teaching artist will be invaluable for any intern who anticipates working with students in schools, camps, or private settings.
All Teaching Assistants are eligible to attend music teaching workshops provided by ETM-LA. These workshops are invaluable to present and future teaching artists. Training is provided in classroom management techniques, musical pedagogy and methodology, developmentally appropriate practices, learning theory, assessment, lesson planning, etc. For more information on requirements and how to apply, please contact volunteer@etmla.org.
If you are interested in serving as a member of ETM-LA’s Board of Directors or Advisory Board and would like to be considered for future openings, please contact ETM-LA at info@etmla.org.
