More about Ed Helms

Ed Helms is an American actor and comedian who also plays banjo! You may have seen him pick a few tunes in his role on the beloved show The Office. Ed is also co-Founder of the world’s largest community for American roots music, culture, and lifestyle The Bluegrass Situation. He has been dedicated to music and music education for as long as we have known him.

If you know Ed he is passionate about music education and that it is available to every child. With ETM-LA’s music programs as part of the core curriculum, this is being accomplished daily in schools across LA County! This Giving Tuesday Banjo benefits ETM-LA, which utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school, and self-confidence, and nurtures the skills that can help students thrive in the future. We believe in equity and access for all children to receive dignity and hope through quality music education.

In 2006, Education Through Music-Los Angeles was founded with the mission to provide and promote quality music education in under-resourced schools as part of the core curriculum for every child in order to nurture students’ academic achievement and their creative and overall development. We partner with school districts and schools to further equity and access for students in historically marginalized communities.
