Cellist Lucy Cahuantzi -a native of Tlaxcala, Mexico- began her studies at the age of sixteen with Maggie Edmondson. Since then, she has been a member of the The Los Angeles Jr. Philharmonic, American Youth Symphony, Debut Orchestra, Redlands Symphony Orchestra, and is an active member of the Dana Point Symphony. She has participated in master classes for Irene Sharp, Cecilia Tsan, Bonnie Hampton, Johannes Moser, Tao Ni, Robert deMaine, and the Calder and Borromeo String Quartets. Lucy graduated with her Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University, Long Beach, where she studied under Dr. David Garret. She recently completed her Master of Music studies with Kyle Champion at the University of Redlands as a full scholarship student. Currently, she maintains a full cello studio at the Community School of Music and the Arts at University of Redlands as well as in the city of Pasadena. She serves as the Director for the Summer Cello Workshop at University of Redlands and is a Cello Teaching Artist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic through Youth Orchestra Los Angeles at HOLA. She joined ETM-LA in September 2022.
