While the world may look a bit different right now amid the COVID-19 prevention measures and school closures, Education Through Music-Los Angeles believes deeply in the power of music and knows firsthand the positivity it brings to the students that we serve. We partner with low-income area schools to provide music as a core subject for all children, and utilize music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school, and self-confidence.

Despite much uncertainty, during this time we are staying on the front lines to ensure that thousands of children across LA County continue receiving the benefits of music education. ETM-LA pivoted quickly to continue providing high-quality music education to our students and communities through live classroom sessions, distance learning resources, wellness tools, and music activities.

ETM-LA believes that every child deserves access to high-quality music education.

Here are 3 WAYS to support ETM-LA:

1.  GIVE

Make a lasting contribution to help provide joy, hope, and healing through music education for children who would otherwise not have the opportunity be able to receive music. Donate or join #GivingTuesdayNow and Give the Gift of Music.

2. JOIN THE MOVEMENT

3. SPREAD THE WORD
Encourage your friends and family to join you in creating real impact today by sharing what our mission means to you and why you support ETM-LA.
(Be sure to hashtag: #ETMLA #GivingTuesdayNow).

“My daughter loves performing. It’s so important for her structure and growth. It truly helps my child be disciplined at school and with tests. She is thankful for the opportunity to have this program in school as they would not otherwise have this privilege.”

Ana Rodriguez

Parent

“It makes me feel confident in myself knowing that I know how to play an instrument. Music [class] has helped me in school. For example, it helped me pay even more attention to other subjects. It is important to have music in school because if all the subjects are challenging you, you can always turn to music.”

Rogelio

Student

“I believe strongly that every child in the world deserves a well-rounded education, but one that includes music because of what music can do for a kid and for a person. It helps them be better listeners in the world, to try to do something impossible, and to master something that's just theirs.”

Blake Neely

Composer and ETM-LA Board Member

“I couldn't be happier with what ETM-LA has been able to do with our children, and how they've been able to grow and express themselves in a musical way. It's so important to keep music in schools for all children because all kids need different ways of expressing themselves.”
