Music Therapy and Social Emotional Learning

 

 

March is Music Therapy Month, and we are honored to shine a light on the impact of music therapy in the mental health field and celebrate the remarkable benefits of music therapy that helps people of all ages and abilities.

ETM-LA proudly partnered with GRAMMY In The Schools Fest, a four-day music education festival, with multiple free sessions for students and parents. Occurring March 6-10 2023, sessions featured performances, clinics, master classes, and Q&A sessions with top industry professionals, guest artists, GRAMMY Award Nominees and Winners, and outstanding music educators.

ETM-LA Music Teacher and Music Therapy Specialist Ricardo Hurtado sat on the panel for Music Therapy, and the importance of music on mental health. The panel of was made of Board-Certified Music Therapists as they answered questions from the community on music and mental health.

In addition, ETM-LA was thrilled to be featured in the Guidance Center’s new podcast “In My Backyard”. Tiffiny Reckley, ETM-LA Instructional Supervisor & Professional Development Specialist discusses the programs ETM-LA provides, and how music education in schools can improve the emotional, psychological and educational outcomes of our children.
