JEM Screening Benefits Music in Schools

Los Angeles, October 22, 2015 – Education Through Music-Los Angeles was treated to a 10th anniversary birthday present in true LA style: with a movie premiere screening of JEM and the Holograms benefitting its music programs across the county. This film adaptation of the 80’s cartoon classic directed by Jon M. Chu(G.I. Joe, Step Up) truly chimed in tune with ETM-LA’s mission to ensure music for every child.

Featuring Aubrey Peeples (Nashville), Stefanie Scott (A.N.T. Farm), Aurora Perrineau, Haley Kiyoko, Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald, JEM and the Holograms showcases the power of music to provide a voice to all individuals. The film resonated with guests and the ETM-LA families who attended. “It’s crucial for a child to grow up with music education as it builds their self-confidence and gives them a voice. Music helps the underachiever in school, supports a child’s imagination, and gives them the tools to succeed in life,” shared Executive Director Victoria Lanier.
For ETM-LA, another jemblematic moment was seeing its music students in a musical montage in the film. The group was selected from submitted videos online.

As ETM-LA celebrates this milestone year, the organization will be providing music education to a planned 20 schools and nearly 10,000 children.  For more photos, visit www.facebook.com/etmla
