BANDRIKA STUDIOS AND BISCETTI PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS
SILENT FILMS LIVE III
CONCERTS BENEFITING EDUCATION THROUGH MUSIC-LOS ANGELES
APRIL 14 (8pm) & 15 (1pm & 8pm)
March 1, 2023 (Los Angeles, CA) — Bandrika Studios and Biscetti Productions are proud to present Silent Films Live III, a series of benefit concerts supporting Education Through Music-Los Angeles. Hosted by Suzanne Lloyd, granddaughter of silent film star Harold Lloyd, and under the baton of award-winning conductor and Education Through Music-Los Angeles Associate Board Member Angel Velez (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Miss World 2022). This star-studded event brings together highly-acclaimed film, television, and visual media composers to reimagine new scores to classic silent films while raising money to support the work of Education Through Music-Los Angeles, an organization that supports 45 schools and over 19,000 students across Los Angeles County.
Enriching the silent film era theme, this concert takes place at Bandrika Studios, a state-of-the-art facility custom-built to showcase Hollywood’s original 1,500 pipe Wurlitzer organ. The pipe organ dates back to 1928 when it resided on the Fox Studios lot and was used in classic film scores including Journey to the Center of the Earth, Patton, and The Sound of Music, to name a few. The April 14 and 15 concerts will feature seven (7) silent films performed by the Trojan Chamber Orchestra along with a special 100th anniversary presentation of silent film star Harold Lloyd’s Safety Last!
A silent auction will also take place before the 8pm shows on both April 14 and 15.
Silent Films Live previously took place with composers Nathan Barr (Carnival Row), Juhi Bansal (In the Pocket), Jeff Beal (House of Cards), Sean Callery (Walker: Independence), George Clinton (Austin Powers Trilogy), Fil Eisler (Outer Banks), Laura Karpman (What If…?), Kevin Kiner (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Blake Neely (Greyhound), William Ross (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Jeff Russo (Star Trek: Picard), Lisbeth Scott (American Son) including an online version during 2020 entitled Silent Films Live: Halloween UNcanceled with special only guests such composer Christopher Young (Spider-Man), George Cleveland (grandson of former President Grover Cleveland, first president to appear in a silent movie) and special appearances from actor Ed Helms (The Office), international violinist Joshua Bell, film composer Germaine Franco (Coco) and Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti. Silent Films Live also released INSIDE LOOK, a brief history of the intersection of silent film and music, narrated by famed soundtrack producer Robert Townson, and made available as a free education resource to teachers. All proceeds raised from these concerts go directly to support Education Through Music-Los Angeles.
