Ryan Rowles, Program Director, graduated with a Bachelors (Cum Laude) in Music Education from California State University Northridge, and received both a Masters of Arts in Teaching as well as a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership/Administration from Grand Canyon University with a Masters of Applied Teaching.
Mr. Rowles studied trumpet with the renowned Roy Poper and conducting from veteran artist-educator Gary Pratt. Mr. Rowles has performed with Buddy Collette, Pete Christlieb, Conti Candoli, Harry Blackstone, and Claudio Roditi, and has dedicated his life to the field of music education. In 1999 he held the position of Instrumental Music Teacher and Technical Director at the Los Angeles Baptist Middle and High Schools (North Hills, CA) in which his jazz ensembles won numerous awards (Fullerton College Jazz Festival, Moorpark College Jazz Festival, Westlake Jazz Festival).
From 2009-2012 Mr. Rowles held the position of Performing Arts Department Chair where he produced school-wide musical theatre productions and developed standards-based music curriculum. In July of 2012, Mr. Rowles joined the Education Through Music-Los Angeles team as ETM-LA’s first Program Director.
