Pilar Diaz

Originally from Chile, Pilar Diaz is a teaching artist in music education, a CalArts Herb Alpert School of Music alum, and an active musician and songwriter in the Latinx music community. She has taught music throughout the United States at schools and universities since 2010 with VOCO, a touring World music vocal ensemble. She has been a guest teaching artist at The Getty Museum’s education department, LA Master Chorale’s High School Choir Festival, and has taught music at several elementary schools throughout Los Angeles. During the summers, you can catch Pilar on the road, not only with her own solo music project but playing keyboards, singing, and playing percussion with Chicano Batman, Tegan and Sara, Las Cafeteras, and Francisca Valenzuela. She was just on Conan for a televised performance with TuneYards. She also wrote the TV theme song for the new bilingual Nickelodeon show “The Swashbuckling Adventures of Capitan Calavera.”

Pilar is thrilled to be a part of the ETM-LA family and continue her teaching artist path. Her favorite music instrument is the ukulele!
